Dr. Jody Dean- Principal

The Houston County Board of Education appointed Dr. Jody Dean as the next principal of Mossy Creek Middle School on December 15, 2022. Dr. Dean began this role in June 2023 following the retirement of Dr. Andy Gentry. Dr. Dean most recently served as the Director of School Operations for the Houston County School District.

“I am excited to join the Mossy Creek Middle School family,” said Dr. Dean. “I am thankful to Dr. Scott and the Board for the opportunity to continue the school’s rich legacy of student achievement and excellence.”

Dr. Dean taught English for 12 years before being named as an assistant principal at Northside High. He also served as the Coordinator for Student Services for the Houston County School District until 2018 when he was named principal of Northside High School.

Dr. Dean earned a doctorate degree from Columbus State University. He also has a specialist degree from Georgia College & State University, a master’s degree from Albany State University, and a bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State University.

He is married to Sara Dean, a teacher at Langston Road Elementary School. They have three children who also attend school in the Houston County School District.

Frank Kenney

Mr. Frank Kenney- Assistant Principal of Discipline

Mr. Kenney received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Georgia College and State University, with a major in Health and Physical Education.  He began teaching computers at Northside Middle School in 2001. After one year, he started teaching science after receiving an add-on to his certificate. Through-out his eleven years at Northside Middle School, Mr. Kenney took on the role of Team Leader, member of the Better Seeking Team, Leadership Team, DATA team, Department Chair for Science, as well as coaching football, soccer, and baseball.  Later he returned to school to earn his master's and specialist degrees in educational leadership from Georgia College and State University. In 2020, Mr. Kenney was named Assistant Principal of Instruction. 

Mr. Kenney is married to Kathy Kenney, who is also a teacher in Houston County. They have two children, Ethan and Avery.

Kelly Sharp

Mrs. Kelly Sharp- Assistant Principal of Instruction

Mrs. Sharp was born and raised in Macon, Georgia.  She attended Georgia College and State University where she received her B.S. Ed. in Early Childhood Education.  She received her M.Ed. in Reading Education from Georgia Southern University and her Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University.  As part of the Houston County School District, she has served as a second grade teacher, fourth grade teacher, and EIP reading teacher.  In 2014, she was selected as an Assistant Principal at Centerville Elementary and Quail Run Elementary.  In 2017, she was selected to join the staff at Northside Middle School as an Assistant Principal.  In 2020, she joined Mossy Creek Middle School as the Assistant Principal of Discipline.  

She is married to Justin Sharp, and together they have two children.  Mrs. Sharp is extremely excited to serve the Mossy Creek Middle School community!
