Mrs. Mixon graduated from Valdosta State University in 1996 with her degree in Middle Grades Education. She continued her education at VSU and earned a master's degree in 2004.  Mrs. Mixon taught for 10 years in the Ware County school system in south Georgia before moving to Warner Robins, GA in 2009. She has been teaching 6th grade at Mossy Creek Middle School for 11 years now.  She also is the 8th grade game squad cheer coach for football and basketball.

Mrs. Mixon has been married to her husband Chris for 24 years, and they have two daughters.  Their oldest daughter Kaley is a pre-K teacher at Northside Elementary School, and their youngest daughter Kynley is a senior at Houston County High School.
