Bio

I'm in my 7th year of teaching band at Mossy Creek Middle School, and I'm proud to be a Mossy Creek Gator.  My wife, April, and our two children, Abi(17), and Drew(15), live in Bonaire, GA. My wife, April, is the CEO of the Robins Region Chamber, and loves her work. We attend Shirley Hills Baptist Church.  I earned a Masters in Music Education from Vandercook College of Music in Chicago, IL in 2003.  I am in year 27 of my teaching career.  I taught 18 years in Milledgeville, GA, two years at Northside Middle.  I was Baldwin County's Teacher of the year in 2001, Oak Hill Middle School's Teacher of the Year in 2008 and I was named North Side Middle's Teacher of the Year in 2017, which was the year of my move to Mossy Creek Middle School. I perform with Reunion, a central Georgia wedding band that I have played with since 2005, and Wartown Jazz, based in Warner Robins.

Since 2018,  the Bands at Mossy Creek have increased in number from 81 to 248 students.  The 7th and 8th grade band won superior ratings at the Georgia Large Group Performance Evaluation in 2019, and went on to win first place and superior ratings at the Six Flags Over Georgia Band Competition the same year. My goal for each student is to find some small success in my band room everyday, carry the understanding of how to succeed into every task they undertake, and inspire others to succeed.
